The Question:I have a couple of questions. 1-Is distilled water better to drink than say spring water? 2-I've also heard that drinking up to a gallon of water a day is recommended, but here's the catch. I mix a gallon of water with two pkgs. of meal replacement drink mix plus a scoop or two of whey protein. I'll consume this at work everyday, so I would like to know is it easier for the body to hydrate itself by drinking plain water or doing it my way? Or is there no difference. The Answer:I have heard that distilled water does have a different osmality ratio than regular tap water. Although, I’m not sure exactly what this means! Distilled water can be more pure than tap water, which can provide for certain health benefits. However, this level of pureness also means a reduction in certain minerals that natural spring water may have. So, I would say it is probably best to drink a little from each source.
Many studies have shown that the best way to keep your body hydrated is to drink pure water. So, even though you are mixing your meal replacement packets and whey protein powder with water, it will not be used as efficiently for hydration as would drinking plain water by itself.
