The Question:

Dan,
I am 66 years old. Two years ago,I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. At that time I was working out at gym 6 days a week. I had a muscular body of a 50 year old. I went on hormonal therapy ( chemical castration) which deprives the body of any testosterone so as to starve the cancer. As a result, I lost all of my muscle-tone and strength. In a couple of months I will be going off of the hormonal therapy and want to gain back my muscle-tone as well as my strength. Do you have any suggestions as to the best and fastest way of accomplishing this? Some sort of an activity schedule would be greatly appreciated.

The Answer:

You sound as if your spirits are still up even with everything you are going through. I have written some programs that I think will help get you back into the swing of things.

You should start with a 2 Day or 3 Day General Fitness Program. You can change any of the exercises on the program to machine oriented exercises if you would like. The key to the programs on Fitrex.com is that they follow a plan of progression. This plan is called periodization. It is a systematic way of developing your body. Give these programs a shot and I think you will be pleased.
